Abstract

Backgrounds
The purpose of this study is to investigate factors influencing the Quality of Life of burn patients and suggest the development of medical social work services.
Methods
The subjects of this study were 218 burn patients in special burn medical center (Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital, Bestian Hospital, Hanil Hospital, Seoul, Korea). The questionaire for this study was composed of the factors including demographic characteristics, burn related characteristics, the need of social work services, and Quality of Life Scale. The collected data were analyzed with frequency, t-test, ANOVA, and regression method by SPSS win 10.0.
Results
The summary of the results is as follows :
1. The Quality of Life Scale can be divided into 4 domains. The mean scores of psychological domain, physical domain, social domain, financial domain are 3.3767, 3.4632, 2.9812, 3.8038.
2. The Need of Medical Social Work Services are 10 item. The mean score of need of medical social work services is 4.2931.
3. When carrying out the multiple regression analysis, which is the patients who have more sequelae, poor income can cause the decrease of the Quality of Life of burn patients.
Conclusions
Finally, according to the result of this study, it is necessary for the medical social worker to suggest to justify social welfare policy for burn patients, provide emotional support through encourage rehabilitation motivation, and develop financial support system.
